BOULDER, Colo.—May 5, 2015—LogRhythm, The Security Intelligence Company, today announced the appointment of James Carder as its chief information security officer (CISO) and vice president of LogRhythm Labs. Reporting to Chris Petersen, senior vice president of products, CTO and co-founder at LogRhythm, Carder sets the vision for and directs the company’s global information security program. As vice president of LogRhythm Labs, he leads the mission and advances its vision for providing unrivaled machine data intelligence, pre-packaged solutions for holistic threat analytics and compliance automation, and the delivery of incident response automation and services.
A frequent speaker at industry events and noted author of several security publications, Carder joins LogRhythm with more than 17 years of experience in corporate security and consulting for the Fortune 500 and government entities, managing large teams and customer relationships, and building service lines.
“James brings to LogRhythm extensive experience and understanding of the financial services and healthcare verticals, two industries being heavily targeted by today’s threat actors,” said Petersen. “He has a deep and proven track record in proactive security, threat intelligence, computer forensics and incident detection and response in some of the most complex enterprises in the world. LogRhythm is fortunate to be adding someone of James’ caliber and experience to not only advance our own security operations, but also bolster our ongoing innovations in ways that address the most pressing security intelligence needs of our customers.”
Prior to joining LogRhythm, Carder was the director of security informatics at Mayo Clinic where he architected a state-of-the-art incident response infrastructure and established its first-ever cyber threat intelligence and response organization. He also ran Mandiant’s Northeast field practice and New York City office, leading the company’s professional services and incident response engagements and managing Mandiant’s relationship with the FBI. Carder has led criminal and national security-related investigations at the city, state and federal levels, including those involving Advanced Persistent Threats, attacks on large financial institutions and actions of well-known “hactivists.”
“With targeted advanced attacks and the complexity of networks increasing, LogRhythm continues to help customers protect information systems and data integral to business operations,” said Carder. “It is a privilege to join such a distinguished leadership team of business and technology experts. I look forward to building upon the success of LogRhythm’s unique Security Intelligence framework to ensure customers are continuously staying ahead of threats and reducing their risk of cyber-based attacks.”
